Survey results are in concerning the sale of beer in downtown Magee…and allowing residential development downtown.
The truth of the matter is all we needed was a vote on do you think beer should be sold in a restaurant downtown…because downtown is already zoned for single family dwellings and of course we can have restaurants (we just need one!)
The issue of beer being sold in the downtown area is one for the alderman…but I always want you the public to have a chance to “speak your mind.”
(1) Allow a business on Main Avenue to sell beer? 31%
(2) Allow a business on Main Avenue to provide retail and residential space? 7%
(3) Allow a business on Main Avenue to do both of the above? 49%
(4) I do NOT support a zoning change that would do any of the above. 13%
Wonder if this means 81% would favor beer being sold in the downtown area…
The poll was viewed approximately 800 times, but only 144 readers participated. We were asked to gather public opinion. We hope that the 144 who took time to answer the poll questions are representative of our community at large. Next time be sure your voice is heard by participating in MageeNews.com polls.
I have always thought it would be so cool to have a loft apartment “on top” of one of the downtown buildings (looking similar to Dr. Rusty Slover’s clinic). I have no idea if any of the buildings could withstand a structure on top!
If anyone would like for me to consider posting a survey on a subject. Submit the information to Sue@mageenews.com and we’ll just see what we can do. (I can’t promise I’ll post …but I will consider.)
