Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced these recent sentencings in cases across Mississippi investigated and prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
“Whether the crimes are aimed at harming your property or your person, we are committed to keeping Mississippians safe from predators,” said Attorney General Lynn Fitch. “We are grateful to our partners in law enforcement agencies and District Attorneys offices across the State for working in tandem with our investigators and prosecutors to protect Mississippians and get justice for victims of crime.”
On August 18, 2022, Deaundre Danell Wilson of Charleston, Mississippi, was sentenced by Desoto County Circuit Judge Gerald Chatham to forty years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), with ten to serve and five years of post-release supervision. Wilson was arrested as part of Operation Blue Rain, a joint investigative operation conducted with the Hernando Police Department in April 2021. He will be required to serve his sentence day-for-day without possibility of parole; pay court costs, fines, and assessments; and register as a sex offender.
Also, on August 18, 2022, Debreco Quintay Johnson of Tupelo, Mississippi, was sentenced by Lee County Circuit Judge John R. White to three years of supervised probation under MDOC for Credit Card Fraud. Johnson will have to pay restitution to the victim, a resident of an assisted living facility, as well as court costs, fines, and assessments.
On September 1, 2022, Latornia Doss of Memphis, Tennessee, was sentenced by Desoto County Circuit Judge Celeste Wilson to five years of supervised probation under MDOC for two counts of felony exploitation of a vulnerable adult. Doss, who was a site manager at the facility where the two victims lived, will be required to pay full restitution of $6,624.46 to the victims, as well as court-ordered fees.
On September 8, 2022, Bonnie Westbrook of Magee, Mississippi, was sentenced by Simpson County Circuit Judge Stanley Sorey to eight years in the custody of MDOC, with two years to serve day-for-day without possibility of parole and five years of post-release supervision. Westbrook, an employee of the facility where the victim lived, was sentenced on one count of Sexual Battery or Fondling of a Vulnerable Person. She will be required to pay court costs, fines, and assessments, and to register as a sex offender.
On September 13, 2022, Devin Horn of Baldwyn, Mississippi, was sentenced by Tishomingo County Circuit Judge John R. White to forty years in the custody of MDOC, with ten years to serve and five years of post-release supervision. Horn was sentenced on one count of Child Exploitation (enticing a minor to meet for sexually explicit purposes) and one count of Sexual Battery. He will be required to serve his sentence day-for-day without possibility of parole; pay court costs, fees, and assessments; and register as a sex offender.
If you would like to report a crime involving the exploitation of a vulnerable adult, please contact the Attorney General’s Public Integrity Division.
If you have information about a child being sexually exploited online, please report it to 1-800-843-5678. The hotline is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and tips are reported to the Attorney General’s Office. You can also make a report online at www.cybertipline.org.
