I’m Mark Grubbs, a lifelong resident of Magee and a candidate for Mayor. Over the years, I’ve listened closely to your concerns, and one issue that stands out is the problem of dilapidated properties in our community. These neglected buildings not only hurt property values but also pose significant safety risks and detract from the overall beauty of Magee.

The Challenges We Face

Addressing these properties is a complex task that involves navigating several hurdles:

  • Identifying Property Owners: Determining who is responsible for maintenance can be challenging.
  • Navigating Ownership Disputes: Conflicts over property ownership can delay necessary actions.
  • Ensuring Proper Legal Procedures: We must adhere to all legal requirements, ensuring that due process is followed.

Once these challenges are overcome, it is ultimately up to the courts to determine the appropriate fines and actions against those who fail to maintain their properties. While the process is intricate, it must not serve as an excuse for inaction.

Learning from Other Cities

We don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Other communities have successfully transformed their abandoned properties into thriving assets. In previous board meetings, I’ve suggested reaching out to cities that have made real progress in addressing similar challenges. I fully intend to follow through on this initiative, bringing proven solutions to Magee that have already made a difference elsewhere.

Moving Forward

This effort isn’t just about enforcing fines—it’s about finding real, long-term solutions that make Magee a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant place to live. That means:

  • Working closely with property owners to ensure compliance.
  • Rigorously enforcing existing regulations.
  • Implementing innovative strategies to turn problem properties into community assets.

Magee deserves better, and I’m ready to act.

Addressing these challenges effectively demands leadership with the right blend of mental sharpness, energy, and stamina. Our community needs a proactive approach that keeps pace with today’s dynamic challenges. I bring a fresh perspective and the resilience necessary to see these projects through, ensuring that our response is as strong as it is thoughtful. This modern approach is essential to transform obstacles into opportunities and to lead Magee toward a brighter future.

It’s time for a change! Let’s work together to clean up our city and move Magee forward.

as long as they pay their property taxes, it belongs to them. mind your own business and let people live their own lives. you and Sue both. ya know what happens to people who live in glass houses. really. it will come back to haunt some people in the elections.
    clean your own house first!!
