Mr. Craft was an active member and deacon of Dry Creek Baptist Church in Magee, MS. He was a graduate of Magee High School and graduated with a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Phillips College, Jackson, MS. In his early years, he worked as a technician at Plant Morrow in Purvis before moving into computer technology with HP where he retired. He was actively serving the citizens of Simpson County at Magee General Hospital as the Chief Information Officer when God called him home. He enjoyed watching Star Trek and spending time with his family. Of all his accomplishments though, most prized and loved was his wife, kids, grandkids, and his church, but above all of these, he loved Jesus. Jesus was His Lord, and he died in obedience to Him—nothing better could be said about a life!
He is preceded in death by his parents, L James and Katie Irene Craft; and grandchildren Ashley and Jesse Craft. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Deborah Jean Craft; son Kirby Ashley Craft and wife Leslie of Magee; daughter Deborah Suzanne Jamison and husband Joey of Raymond, MS; four grandchildren, Brooklynn Renee Craft, April Kennedy Jamison, Hope Kinnison Jamison, and Ashton Jeremiah Craft; two brothers, Steve and Eric Craft, both of Magee; and a number of other family members and friends.
“Jesus is Lord!” was Mr. Craft’s life, so in lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to the International Gideons Bible fund in memory of James Kirby Craft. Donations can be made with your local church or online at https://www.sendtheword.org/.
