Willie Rayford Bynum was born on March 27, 1931 in Magee, MS to the late Junior and Mollie Shows. Willie went to be with the Lord and her husband of 50 years Roy Lee Bynum on November 16, 2019. She was a lifelong resident of Magee, MS where she raised her six children in Christian home. She is the sister to Peggy Gayle of Pearl, MS and the late Eloise Sullivan of Byram, MS. She is the beloved mother of Barbara Lee Walton (Ken) of Edwards, the late Willie Jean Abernathy of D’Lo, Ellen Kaye McWilliams (James) of Magee, Pamela Sue Holmes (George) of D’Lo, Danny Ray Bynum (the late Cynthia Bynum) of Magee, MS, and Lisa Elizabeth Rankin (Carnell) of Martinville, MS.
She is the grandmother of Connie Weeks, the late Vicki Lynn Bailey, the late Karen Myers, Jeanna Odom, the late Steven McWilliams, Melissa Hammer, Kimberly Fortenberry, Brian Holmes, Willie Amanda Matrone, Leslie Mitchell, Justin Bynum, Jennifer Sullivan, Michael Rankin, John Rankin, and Daniel Rankin. She was blessed with 35 great grandchildren and 16 great, great grandchildren. Willie was a lifelong member of Kennedy Springs Baptist Church in Martinville, MS.
Willie was sassy, spirted woman that loved the Lord and her family dearly. She dedicated her life to taking care of her husband and children. Together, Willie and Roy Lee raised six kids in a Christian home. Sadly, she is gone, but never will be forgotten and will be missed by all. Her legacy of love and family will live on forever. She loved to garden and watch her flowers grow. Her famous pecan pies will be missed by all of us. She enjoyed making them for her family.
Friends and family are invited to attend her visitation at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home 302 8th Avenue Southwest Magee, MS on Monday, November 18, 2019. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on November 19, 2019 at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church in Martinville, MS at 11am with visitation prior to service from 10:00am to 11:00am grave side service will follow in church cemetery.
