My name is Allyson Allen Berch, and I am announcing my candidacy for Alderman Ward 1.
I am married to Dennis Berch, and we have three adult children, Katelyn Lindsey, Molly Allan, and Ben Berch. Each of them have chosen to make Magee their home.
As a lifelong resident of Magee, I am the daughter of Jean Allen and the late Ted Allen. I am a graduate of Magee High School. I attended Mississippi College where I earned a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in elementary education. I taught for over twenty years in the public and private schools in Simpson and Rankin counties. Upon retiring from teaching, I began working with my dad in our family business, Central Building Supply and Ace Hardware, where I currently serve as general manager.
We are active members of First Baptist Church Magee.
As a resident of Magee, I am very involved in various civic organizations. I presently serve as the Vice President of the Magee Chamber of Commerce, Co-President of Magee Preservation Commission, President of Magee Police Department Friends, and I also serve on the Magee Main Street Board and the Priority One Senior Center Committee. Recently I served on the Magee Community Committee of the 2024 Simpson County Bicentennial Committee. I also served as a volunteer on the Magee Community House renovation and oversaw the repairs of the Magee Public Library.
Magee is a wonderful place to call home. I feel that our city has a promising future with its many assets. Our location lends unlimited opportunities for growth and development, not only on the highway but downtown, as well. If elected, I will demonstrate strong leadership with a vision to accomplish measurable goals with solid strategies.
Because of my sincere interest in the progress of our city, I have attended the City of Magee board meetings, zoning board meetings, and board workshops for the past two-and-a-half years. If elected as your Alderman, I am committed to lead and serve with integrity, transparency, accountability, and open communication with my constituents.
I humbly ask for your vote on April 1st, 2025. I truly feel that by working together we can make Magee a better place.
