On Saturday, August 29, at approximately 12:44 a.m., the Magee Police Department responded to a shooting on the northeast side of Magee.
When officers arrived, they found that four people had been shot. One male victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
As family members transported the other victims, officers located one victim who had suffered a serious gunshot wound. Officers applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding and transported the victim to the hospital in a patrol vehicle for treatment.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit is assisting the Magee Police Department with processing the scene.
Magee remains a safe community, but no city is completely immune to violent crime. We will do our job and work to bring those responsible to justice.
This remains an active investigation.
No additional information will be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.
