Bonnie Lois Kennedy, 86 of Magee, MS was called to eternal rest on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, MS. She was born Sunday, October 9, 1938 in Simpson County, MS where she lived her entire life.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee, 302 Eighth Ave SW, Magee, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Burial will follow in Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Magee, MS. Dr. Jerry Smith will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Bonnie was a graduate of Magee High School. After high school she went to work as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Buford Neely for seven years. She was also a longtime employee of Magnetek, where she served as Secretary to the Operations Manager for 29 years. She was bursting with personality and rarely met a stranger. She fiercely loved her family and friends. In her later years one of her greatest joys was facetiming her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Nuel Gene Kennedy; father, Shelby Leon Walker; mother, Bobby Grace Prestwood Lucas; brothers, Rayvon Walker (Agrandze), Tony Robertson and Sgt. Paul Allen Robertson; sister, Shelby Jean Dukes (Mims); brothers-in-law, Tom Becker, Ansel Kennedy, and W.D. Kennedy.

She is survived by her daughter, Shellie Kennedy Smith (Mike) of Madison, MS; grandchildren, Ryan Walker Smith (Dallas) and Spencer Jay Smith (Reagan); great grandchildren, Parker Thomas Smith, Walker Gene Smith and Tatum Michael Smith; sisters, Diane Becker and Jackie Smith (Eddie); brother-in-law, Charles Runnels (Faye); sisters-in-law, Patricia Kennedy and Brenda Robertson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Alice Weess, Dr. Terry Meadows, Nell Kennedy, and the staff at Hillcrest Nursing Home; who was always by her side even through her later years.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Smith, Spencer Smith, Bobby Meadows, Chad Runnels, Dwayne Kennedy, and Andy Kennedy.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Children’s of Mississippi Hospital.
