A line of strong thunderstorms moved through Magee and Simpson County on the evening of Friday, April 24, 2026, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning to the area.

According to weather data and radar trends across central Mississippi, the storms were part of a larger system that tracked eastward across the region late Friday night into the early morning hours. These storms were capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and small hail, conditions commonly associated with severe thunderstorm warnings in the area.

Residents across Simpson County reported periods of intense rainfall, loud thunder, and brief power flickers as the storm line passed through. While no widespread structural damage has been officially confirmed at this time, storms of this strength are known to cause downed limbs, minor roof damage, and isolated power outages.

The heaviest activity appeared to move quickly through the Magee area, limiting the duration of severe conditions but still creating hazardous weather for a short time Friday night.

Local officials encourage residents to remain weather-aware during the spring storm season, as systems like this can develop rapidly and intensify with little warning.
