LAUREL, Miss. – August 10, 2026 – South Central Regional Medical Center has named Cancer and Infusion Center Manager Kaitlin Windham, RN, as its Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2026.
Windham first began working at the South Central Cancer Center in May 2025. She has, however, worked as an oncology nurse since 2017 and as a manager in an oncology clinic for the last four years.
Her nomination for HEART Champion, which was submitted by a Cancer Center nurse, emphasized how Windham’s leadership, guidance and support have had a positive impact on the staff, improving the department as a whole.
The nomination said, “Kaitlin has been amazing for the short time I’ve been in her office. She is always willing to take time to listen and actually give constructive feedback. She’s made me grow as a nurse and person. She has quickly become a friend on top of being a department head.”
She was awarded Employee of the Quarter at a routine organizational meeting, where many of her colleagues, as well as President & CEO, Gregg Gibbes and other members of the hospital administration, were present.
“I am honored to have been given this award in the company of so many people that I respect and admire as nurses, providers, leaders and as people in general,” Windham said. “Health care is hard, and difficult days are frequent. I find purpose in knowing that I am here to help patients walk through their hardest moments. It is a blessing to be a small part of their lives and their healing journey.”
The process of choosing who receives the Employee of the Quarter distinction begins with an internal nomination process, which is open to any member of the SCRMC staff who wishes to submit a peer for consideration. Then the winner is chosen through a voting process by a committee of individuals from across the organization.
The four individuals who will be chosen as Employees of the Quarter throughout the year will be eligible for Employee of the Year, which will be announced during National Hospital Week in May 2027.
