A search for a Magee man wanted on multiple felony warrants ended with a police pursuit, a tense confrontation, and the assistance of a police K-9.
Timothy Edge, 45, of Magee, was taken into custody September 24, 2026, after authorities located him in Richland.
Edge had outstanding warrants through the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office involving allegations of attempted rape, gratification of lust, molestation, and sexual battery.
Richland police had received information concerning Edge’s whereabouts, along with a description of the vehicle he was believed to be driving, a white 1998 Dodge Ram pickup.
A detective spotted the truck, but instead of stopping, Edge reportedly attempted to escape. The pursuit covered approximately 10 miles before a Rankin County deputy successfully placed spike strips in the roadway.
With his tires deflated, Edge lost control of the pickup on Garrett Road.
What followed was a dangerous situation for responding officers.
Police reported that Edge stepped out of his vehicle carrying a pole that appeared to resemble a rifle barrel. He would not follow officers’ instructions to surrender.
The confrontation continued when Edge returned to the pickup, obtained a knife, and seriously injured himself. Officers were faced with a suspect who was bleeding heavily but still refusing to cooperate.
Richland officers then called on K-9 Teun, who was able to apprehend Edge. Once he was secured, officers applied a tourniquet to his injured arm.
Edge was subsequently turned over to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office to face his outstanding warrants.
The situation took a serious turn when Edge reportedly stepped out of his truck holding a pole that officers believed could be the barrel of a rifle. The detective had just exited his patrol car and was preparing to use his K-9 when Edge refused commands to surrender.
Following a short standoff, Edge returned to his truck, where police say he picked up a knife and severely injured himself. Despite the bleeding, he continued to resist officers’ attempts to take him into custody.
K-9 Teun was then deployed and successfully apprehended Edge. Officers secured him and immediately applied a tourniquet to his injured arm to control the bleeding.
Edge was later transferred to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, where he was wanted on outstanding warrants. He also faces an additional felony fleeing charge in Richland.
