Road manager Ben Warren reported the rock and pile project had begun.  At this time, all equipment for this project is working.  Warren explained that the heavy rains in the past few months have caused problems with driveways, roads, and culverts.  “The damage from storms eats our lunch,” stated Warren.

The need for an additional storage barn was discussed.  The Supervisors desire for the barn to be located near Pinola and Harrisville.  Available land was discussed.  The road department will continue to seek usable land.  Estimated cost of a 30X40 barn is $23,800.

Greg Reynolds presented the Sheriff’s report.

Charlie Welch reported the continued water test on the Courthouse roof will be Thursday or Friday.  Charlie presented work needed for the County Extension building.  Hopefully, inmate labor will be available for painting.  Pricing for gutters will be reported at a later date.

The Board approved county workers and machinery for digging up the time capsule which will be opened on July 4, 2024.  The capsule is buried near the Courthouse.

Simpson County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Pat Brown reported on activities in the county.  The District has more land that originally thought.  About 80 acres has come to the attention of the District. 2nd building in the Pioneer Park will be actively marketed by the owner.  A lot of work is taking place at D’Lo park.  Plans for a large 4th of July celebration are in the works.  A  floating river stage will house the band playing at the celebration.  Detailed activates for the celebration will be available in the future.

Several pieces of county equipment will be in the upcoming auction.
