Simpson County Board of Supervisors Approves Wide Range of Business at May 15 Meeting
The Simpson County Board of Supervisors met Friday, May 15, 2026, with Board President Wayne Womack calling the meeting to order.
Supervisor Danny Craft opened the meeting with prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
The first order of business was the recognition of two Simpson County students who received the Board of Supervisors Scholarships:
Mallory Duncan and Jeremiah Cole.

During the public comment portion of the meeting, Karen Moseley of Keep Simpson County Beautiful shared a positive report on the countywide litter clean-up effort, highlighting strong community participation.

According to Moseley, 170 people participated in the clean-up, collecting approximately 200 bags of litter throughout Simpson County. Student involvement was especially notable, with 48 students from area schools taking part in the effort.

As an added incentive and recognition of youth participation, the Keep Simpson County Beautiful committee awarded its first-ever scholarship. A $1,000 scholarship was awarded through a drawing of participating students’ names, with Melanie McCoy selected as the recipient.
Road Manager Jeremy Bolton presented the county’s April Road Department maintenance report, which was accepted by the board. Bolton also announced that the bridge on Oak Grove Road will be closed beginning Monday, May 18, for approximately two weeks while repairs are completed. Work on the project is expected to begin Tuesday, May 19. The bridge repair project is identified as Project #SA64-0000000123.
