The Magee Public Library experienced an exceptional summer, welcoming thousands of visitors while offering educational and entertaining programs for children, teens, and adults throughout June.
According to the library’s June 2026 report, the library hosted 54 programs, including 34 in-house events and 20 passive activities, drawing a total program attendance of 1,771 participants. In addition, the library recorded 2,293 patron visits, highlighting the important role the facility continues to play in the Magee community.
Some of the month’s most popular programs featured the Magee Fire Department, Freedom Ranch, Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue, and the Mississippi Science Museum. Children also enjoyed cooling off during the fire department’s water activities, making learning both educational and fun.
Library circulation also remained strong, with a reported 20% increase. During the month, patrons checked out:
- 515 adult books, audiobooks, and videos
- 54 young adult books
- 818 juvenile books, audiobooks, and videos
The library also welcomed seven new patrons, demonstrating continued growth and interest in its services.
Looking ahead, the Magee Public Library has a full calendar planned. August will feature Adult and Teen Cooking Matters Classes and Medicare Education Class 101, while September will welcome visitors with the themed program “Step Into the Roaring Twenties.”
The June report reflects more than just numbers—it tells the story of a library that continues to serve as a gathering place for learning, imagination, and community connections. From children laughing under the spray of a fire hose to families discovering wildlife and science together, the Magee Public Library continues to prove it is much more than a place to check out books. It is a vibrant community hub where learning comes to life for citizens of all ages.
