The sounds of competition, encouragement, and teamwork filled the fields and facilities at Simpson County Academy last week as young athletes participated in the school’s annual athletic camp.

Campers spent the week sharpening their skills, learning fundamentals, and enjoying instruction from SCA coaches and student-athletes. Through drills, games, and friendly competition, participants had the opportunity to improve their abilities while building confidence and sportsmanship.

Girls in grades 1st-6th participated in a week long basketball camp led by Coach Linda Dear,  Coach Chaucer Funchess , former Cougar basketball players Alyssa Grace Brewer, and Olivia Barnes.

The camp focused on more than athletic development. Coaches emphasized teamwork, character, and perseverance—values that have become hallmarks of Simpson County Academy’s athletic programs. Campers were encouraged to give their best effort, support one another, and have fun while learning the game.

Parents and spectators enjoyed watching the young athletes grow throughout the week as they developed new skills and friendships. The camp also provided an opportunity for future Cougars to become familiar with the Simpson County Academy campus and experience the school’s Christ-centered environment.

From beginners learning the basics to more experienced athletes looking to refine their skills, the camp offered something for everyone. By the end of the week, campers left with improved abilities, new friendships, and plenty of memories.

The successful camp reflected Simpson County Academy’s commitment to developing young people both on and off the field, continuing a tradition of excellence that extends far beyond athletic competition.
