If there is one thing folks in our area know how to do, it’s rally around a good cause—and this is one worth supporting.

The Daughters of the King are rolling up their sleeves and hosting a fundraiser for Matthew 25:40 Ministries Shelter for Men in Simpson County, and it sounds like a day full of good food, great music, and even better fellowship.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 23, and make plans to head to the Collins Civic Center anytime between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. For $15, you can enjoy a hearty plate with your choice of fish or chicken, along with baked beans, potato salad, and a canned drink.

But this event is about more than lunch. The day will be filled with praise music, fun, and community spirit, all with one goal in mind—helping Matthew 25:40 Ministries continue its mission of serving men in need.

The money raised will go toward building additional housing, helping expand the ministry’s ability to provide shelter and support for those working to rebuild their lives.

That’s the kind of effort that deserves a crowd. So grab a friend, bring your appetite, and spend part of your day helping make a difference. Good food always tastes a little better when it’s served with purpose.

Samatha Lott is “running the show” and is assisted by Jordan Lott.
