Cousins Keeping Those Bats Hot

There is just something special about cousins. So many times, they grow up more like sisters than cousins—and that sure seems to be the case for Payton Hayes and Jaliya Sullivan.

The two Northwest Rankin softball players are making their family and hometown proud as they continue their exciting postseason run. During the third round of the South State Championship playoffs, both girls knocked one out of the park with home runs!

Talk about keeping those bats hot!

Northwest Rankin has already built an impressive legacy, winning District and State Championships three years in a row. Now, Payton and Jaliya are chasing an incredible fourth championship title.

What makes the story even sweeter for folks here at home is that both girls are originally from Simpson County and played softball at Simpson Academy during their younger years. It’s always exciting to watch local talent shine on a bigger stage.

We are so proud of these young ladies and all they have accomplished through hard work, dedication, and teamwork.

Bring home the gold, girls! 🥎
