The Simpson County Academy Cougars are bringing another championship trophy back to Mendenhall after a dramatic 4-3 victory over Lamar School in the bottom of the 11th inning to capture the 2026 MAIS Class 4A, Division II State Baseball Championship. With the win, the Cougars completed a sweep of the best-of-three championship series in unforgettable fashion.

In a game packed with tension, grit, and determination, Simpson Academy refused to back down. The Cougars battled inning after inning, matching Lamar pitch for pitch before finally delivering the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th to seal the title.

The championship victory adds yet another remarkable achievement to Simpson Academy’s tradition of athletic excellence. This Cougar team showcased resilience, discipline, and the kind of brotherhood that championship teams are built on.
