The Braxton Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate a major milestone this year with a 50th anniversary pageant honoring five decades of service to the community.
The event will recognize the department’s longstanding commitment to protecting the citizens of Braxton and surrounding areas, while also supporting its ongoing operations.
The all-crown pageant will include divisions for Infant, Toddler, Little Miss/Mr., Preteen, Teen, Miss, and Mrs., with each participant receiving a crown. Organizers say the event is designed to promote community pride and provide an opportunity for individuals of all ages to take part in the celebration. Contestants are encouraged to dress in age-appropriate attire, with natural dresses preferred, and to showcase personality during the competition.
A featured part of the program will be the presentation of the Randy Hays Legacy Service Award. The honor will be given to the contestant with the most verified community service hours and includes a cash prize. The award recognizes the legacy of Randy Hays and his 35 years of service to Simpson County.
The pageant will be held at Braxton Baptist Church gymnasium. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., with the event beginning at 1 p.m.
The entry fee is $40 per contestant, with a $5 sibling discount available. Admission for attendees is $5 for ages 3 and older. All proceeds will benefit the Braxton Volunteer Fire Department.
