On Monday, October 14, 2019, I attended the Chi Omega State Day in Hattiesburg at the historical Train Depot. Chi Omega is the sorority I pledged while in college at USM. Little did I know, 50 years later, I would still have dear dear friends from my college years.
Chi Omega State Day was held in observance of 125 years of Chi Omega. The location rotates each year between different cities in the state.
When my sister “started on me” about attending state day, I was like…maybe! I soon learned of several of my college friends who were planning to attend. To top it off, the person in charge of the Mississippi Chi Omega State Day was a Magee girl…Alicia Reed McLemore! (Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Reed of Magee)
I loved my years at USM with the Chi Os. We had a great group of girls and an organization that promoted scholarship, philanthropy, friendship, and loyalty.
We did not end our friendship at graduation. We continue to meet twice a year for reunions. (I don’t always get to go but love the updates!) . The State Day was a bonus day!
Thanks to Alicia and all her work. The event was fabulous!
Here are a few pictures from our day!
(Sue note: I just have to tell ya’ll that I feel real funny about posting stories about my activities! For years, I worked at the Magee Post Office with Lannie Bob Stewart. Lannie Bob fussed every Thursday about people writing and telling about their own adventures! That fussing has stuck with me for a life time…sorry, Lannie Bob…I thought some people might like or know some of these folks!)
