Elsie Jean McLendon passed at Forrest General Hospital on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. She was born on February 4, 1944, in Magee, MS, to Preston Mangum and Elsie Kennedy Mangum.
Jean was married to the love of her life, Dan McLendon, for 48 years. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan McLendon, and her daughter, Tammy McLendon.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Debbie McPherson; sister, Dean McCrory; four grandsons, Jared Herring, Keith Herring, Kevin Herring, and Nathan Herring; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home from 12:00 until 2:00 PM. The service will begin at 2:00 in the chapel with Brother Johnny Sykes officiating. Interment will follow in Magee City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the local chapter of Special Olympics.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
