Zelda Marie Bankston, 83 of Magee, MS passed away Friday, September 6, 2024 at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, Mississippi. She was born Friday, July 25, 1941 in Simpson County.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Magee, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Magee, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Joe Metts will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Mrs. Zelda was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. In her younger years she served as a Sunday school teacher, she was on the kitchen committee, and served during VBS. She was known as Pearl by everybody. She will greatly be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Bankston; parents, William James Anderson and Lillie Mae Craft Anderson; siblings, Howard Anderson, Odell Anderson, Marshall Anderson, Bernice Anderson, Lewis Anderson and Bill Anderson, Ruby Ware, Bobbie Nichols and Shirley Overby.
Survivors include her daughters, Jenelle Blackwell (Robbie), Jean Craft (Eric), Valarie Amason (Greg) and Dana Hall (Tim); grandchildren, Megan Blackwell (Charles), Kayla Craft (Jon), Andrew Amason, Luke Amason, Jacob Hall, Natalee Hall; great grandchild, Maggie Griffith; step grandchildren; brother, Joe Anderson (Shirley); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Amason, Luke Amason, Jacob Hall, Charles Blackwell, Jon Eubanks, and Brett Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Craft, Greg Amason, Tim Hall, and Robbie Blackwell.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Simpson General Hospital and Dr. Holbrook and Jodie Miller for caring for our mother. Thanks also to Gentiva Hospice and especially Christina Russell, who cared for and loved our mom. Also, thanks to the staff at Bedford Care Center for caring for our mom this past year. We appreciate all that every one of you has done.
