The Scriptural passage for today is found in Psalm 16:5: “Lord, You have assigned me my portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure.” The psalmist is proclaiming in word and song the role God plays in his life. He knows that God is in total control of his destiny, and as Lord and Master of his life, he, the psalmist, need not fear the future. We, too, have that same assurance today when we accept God as our Shepherd. Our fate is secured, and He will never leave us or forsake us. I love the gospel song “Known Only to Him.” The end of the chorus contains these lyrics: “I know not what the future holds, but I know who holds the future. It’s a secret known only to Him.” Put your trust in God, Who knows the future, your future and mine.
