Anyone who grew up in Magee during the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and maybe even 80’s, remembers our powerful 50,000 watt radio station WSJC.

Wednesday, May 19, 2021, I will be interviewing Mike Mathis whose parents founded WSJC.  Mike will share information from the beginning of the station to its closure.  WSJC hit the airways in 1957.  Many local merchants advertised on the station.  WSJC was known for playing gospel and country music.  In the 60’s, pop was introduced.

I hope you will join me on MageeNews.com Facebook page at 1:00 PM.

The man in the middle with the black glasses is my Mom’s Uncle, Charles Meadows. He was the DJ for the Gospel Music, and other types. He was one of the original members of the Meadows Quartet. Lived here in Mendenhall on South Main all my life💙
