WSJC went on the air July 5, 1957 and was sold in April 1988.
Many of the people in the photo worked there for a long time and created lifelong friendships.
Many were influenced at an early age to pursue education that would expand their horizons and they gave credit to the advice they received from Mike and his parents on making decisions that helped to shape their career paths.
A special video tribute put together by Randy Blakeney featured old photos, commercials, original station jingles and video.
It was great to see faces or hear the voices of former co-workers that are no longer with us.
A special tribute was given to Mike’s parents, Marvin and Jeanette for having the vision to bring a radio station to Magee.
Marvin was only 45 years old when he was killed in 1968 just before the FM station went on the air.
Both Marvin and Jeanette were past presidents of the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters. The Mathis family were pioneers in the Mississippi Broadcast industry.
