Around 3 Am Tuesday, August 9, 2022, Magee police, fire department, and Covington County ambulance were dispatched to Highway 49 concerning an accident involving a car and 18 wheeler.

According to Magee Police Chief Shane Little,  the 18 wheeler was traveling south as was the SUV. The SUV rear ended the 18 wheeler causing massive injuries to the driver.  The Magee Fire Department worked approximately 45 minutes using the jaws of life to rescue the driver.  The driver was taken by ambulance to a Jackson hospital.  (Due to the fog, the helicopter could not land.). The driver was from out of state.

I think when it’s foggy 18 wheeler trucks should have to have big fog lights across back blinking and if it slows others down so be it. It would save life’s. This person obviously did not see it in time but they need more lights. Period. They don’t have enough lights! Many deaths caused by truckers!!

Maybe if the people driving these vehicles would stop cutting us truckers off less accidents would happen and maybe if you people would get off your cell phone that might help too
