The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Jeremiah 31:13: “Then maidens will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.” The prophet of old delivered to God’s chosen people words of encouragement; however, trust and obedience were expected from the people in return for God to exact these changes. The children of Israel were not to mix with other nations which worshiped idols, false gods. They were expected to worship the one true God, whose message never changes. We who profess Him today are asked to trust and obey Him, His commands, seek His face, repent of our sins, and ask Him for forgiveness. Let us serve the Lord with gladness and enter His courts with praise. Amen!
