Wolves Falter Against Hinds

RAYMOND – The Co-Lin Football team took to the road for a contest against Hinds Community College on Thursday, October 7. The Eagles beat the Wolves by a final of 23-14.

The Eagles got on the board first as they hit a 27-yard field goal late in the first half to take a 3-0 lead and then increased their lead with a two-yard rushing touchdown from Jeffrey Pittman in the second quarter making the score 10-0. The Eagles maintained that lead through the first half.

The Wolves first touchdown came on the opening possession of the second half as freshman running back Bobby Shanklin Jr., (Macon) powered the ball in from one yard out capping off an 11 play, 63-yard drive. The PAT was missed making the score 10-6 with 9:46 left in the third quarter.

The Wolves defense then cut the lead down to 10-8 after sophomore defensive lineman Joseph Barton (Walnut) sacked the Hinds quarterback in the end zone for a safety with 13:56 left in the game. The Eagles added two scores on back-to-back possessions as Jamarian Samuels and Jeffrey Pittman scored on three-yard and 34-yard rushes respectively. The Eagles went 1-for-2 on the point after attempts and led the Wolves 23-8 with 3:35 remaining.

The final touchdown for the Wolves came as sophomore quarterback Paul Hargrave (Natchez) connected with sophomore receiver Erick Rodgers (Shannon) on a 25-yard scoring pass completing a five play, 72-yard drive. Another missed PAT brought the score to 23-14. The Eagles were then able to run out the clock securing the 23-14 win.
