Willie Rae Ainsworth Polk, 80 of Taylorsville, MS passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was born Monday, March 31, 1941, in Taylorsville, Mississippi.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Cemetery in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Brother Kent Grice will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. 601-785-6564
Mrs. Willie Rae was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorsville, Mississippi. She loved the Lord and taught her children to serve the Lord. She was a hard worker, strong willed and opinionated person. She loved her pets, working in the garden, working with her flowers, and working in her yard, fishing, and was known as a great cook. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Judson Polk; father, Dossie Ainsworth; mother, Ora Walley Ainsworth; grandson, James Samuel Polk; brothers, Burnice Ainsworth, Ernest Ainsworth, D.C. Ainsworth, Charles Ainsworth, and Homer Ainsworth; and sister, Essie Mae Ainsworth White Robinson.
Survivors include her sons, Jeff Polk (Robin) of Pearl, MS, and Mark Polk (Stephanie) of Taylorsville, MS; daughters, Melissa Polk Clark (Doug) of Mize, MS, Carol Ainsworth Harris (Ray) of Waynesboro, MS, and Linda Ainsworth Clark of Laurel, MS; step-son, Dean Polk (Jane) of Taylorsville, MS; grandchildren, Justin Phillips of Waynesboro, MS, Valerie Phillips Shows (Willie) of Soso, MS, Spencer Clark of Laurel, MS, Kallie Polk of Taylorsville, MS, Kelby Polk of Pearl, MS, Derek Polk of Seminary, MS, Josie Phipps of Petal, MS, Wyatt Polk of Taylorsville, MS, and Seth Clark of Mize, MS; sister, Sue Ainsworth Wilson of Sandersville, MS; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mark Polk, Wyatt Polk, Doug Clark, Seth Clark, Stanley Blakeney, and Jerry Evans. Honorary pallbearers Jerry Glenn and Jeff Polk.
