William Gary Cahill went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 18, 2015 at the age of 70. Gary was born in Houston, TX in 1944.  His father worked on the pipeline so Gary spent his childhood moving around the country with his family.

Gary married his high school sweetheart, Margaret and they celebrated their 48th anniversary this year.  Gary often described their marriage as “more one than two.”

Gary was a talented architect by trade and was gifted at doing anything with his hands from restoring his grandmother’s house in Pinola into his and Margaret’s home to making handcrafted tables.  Gary was an amazing artist.

Gary served as a deacon at First Baptist Church Jackson, MS and he and Margaret have been active at First Baptist Church in Mendenhall since moving to Pinola.

Gary loved to talk.  He loved to listen to music and play the guitar.  He loved being around family and friends.  He could make anything, fix anything, build anything, draw anything, explain anything and generally figure anything out.  He collected model trains and restored Model Ts.  He loved his girls and did anything and everything for them.  He was a father and a precious friend to his son-in-laws.  Gary got great joy from sharing their restored home with family and many friends who enjoyed hearing him tell the history of the home and family.

Gary will be remembered for his strong faith in the Lord, devotion to his wife, love for his family and friends and the joy and kindness he brought to every person he met.

Gary is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters Amy Williamson (Michael) and Laura Dyess (Barry); granddaughter Rosemary Williamson; mother Willetta Cahill; and brothers Charles Robert Cahill and Charles Ray Cahill (Anita); brother-in-law Jim Street (Jimmie Carol) and a large loving family of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, out-laws and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Otis Cahill and sister in law, Nancy Williams Cahill.

Visitation will be at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall on Monday, June 22nd from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and a memorial service will be held immediately following.  Gary will be laid to rest in the Pinola Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Family Life Center of FBC Mendenhall or the Pinola Cemetery.

The family wants to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support over the last several months.  Through prayers and faith we have been able to take this journey with Gary.

Philippians 3:20-21

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
