William “Buster” Carter
(1/21/1945 – 12/2/2024)

William “Buster” Grover Carter, 79 of Brandon, MS went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 2, 2024 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born Sunday, January 21, 1945 in Brandon, MS.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall, 3077 Simpson Hwy 13, Mendenhall, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall. Burial will follow in Johns Cemetery in Brandon, MS. Marion Greene will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

Buster graduated from Puckett High School in 1965. After graduation, he was drafted into the Army as a Helicopter Mechanic. Buster spent 5 years overseas serving his country during the Vietnam War. After his deployment Buster continued working as a mechanic for The MS Department of Transportation for 32 years. Anyone who knew Buster knew he was the strong, silent type. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Carter; mother, Odessel Lee Mize Carter; brother, Charles Franklin Carter; sisters, Sarah Katherine Carter and Johnnie Marie Carter.

Survivors include his sisters, Emma Marion Carter Greene (Marion), Addie Lee Carter; nephews, Timothy Wayne Fortune and Matthew Israel Greene; nieces, Rebecca Sue Fortune Montgomery (Terry) and Rachael Naomi Greene Moreau (Christopher); 4 great nieces, and nephews; and 5 great-great nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Fortune, Matthew Greene, Christopher Moreau, Terry Montgomery, and the Patriot Guard Riders.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Murphy, Grady Greene, and Axel Moreau.
