Willetta “Bill” Williams Cahill, 107 years and one week old, was a long time resident of Pinola, MS and Bedford Care Center of Marion, MS.
Willetta had a strong love for her community but an even stronger love for God. She was very active with Pinola Baptist Church where she oversaw several groups and committees. She taught Bible classes well into her nineties.
Willetta was the matriarch of the family and a mom to many. She had a passion for healing and taking care of those around her. She started her career in nursing in 1934 which allowed her to see many states and gain vast knowledge of several medical illnesses and diseases. While employed at the tuberculosis hospital in Beaumont, TX, she met and courted Charles Otis Cahill. They wed in 1939 and shortly thereafter had two sons. Charles Otis’ job took the family from Maine to Washington State and Minnesota to Old Mexico. Willetta continued her education in nursing at UMC, where she completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and also obtained a nurse specialist title. She also taught and became the Director of Maternal Child Health Program for a period.
She loved her boys and longed for daughters. Once her sons married, she finally got her wish. Her two daughters-in-love blessed her with four daughters.
Willetta is survived by daughter-in-love, Margaret Street Cahill; granddaughters, Beth Cahill Robinson, Amy Cahill Williamson (Michael), Katie Cahill Burleson (Brent) and Laura Cahill Dyess (Barry); great-grandchildren, Rosemary Williamson, Neal Burleson; nieces and nephews, Carolyn Craft, Bob Williams, Linda Peters, Greg Morlan, Marietta Bradley, Bill Bradley, Clay Bradley, Charles Ray Cahill (Bootsie) and Jerry Wayne Cahill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Houston Williams and Tina Lee Williams, husband, Charles Otis Cahill; sons, Charles Robert Cahill and William Gary Cahill; daughter-in-love, Nancy Williams Cahill; brother, Robert Guy Williams; sisters, Ruby Justus, Charlotte Cahill, Mary Tom Fillette and niece, Jean St. Ores.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS from 10:30 am until 11:30 am with service at 11:30 am in Tutor Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Pinola City Cemetery. Bro. Trey Earnhart and Bro. Michael Williamson will officiate the service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
