Wilford “Pete” Runnels
(December 18, 1944 – February 22, 2016)
Wilford “Pete “ Runnels, 71, of Mt. Olive passed away at home, Monday, February 22, 2016.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 1pm until 2pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mt. Olive. Graveside services will follow at 2:30pm at New Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery, Mount Olive, MS with Bro. Lawrence Runnels officiating. Final arrangements are entrusted to Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mt. Olive, MS, 601-849-5031. www.colonialchapelmageemendenhall.com

Pete was born December 18, 1944, in Smith County to Ollie Wilford and Mary Harris Runnels. Pete was a retired mechanic and chicken farmer. He served in the US Army and was a Vietnam veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Wilford and Mary Harris Runnels, and two brothers, Jim Richard Runnels and Willie Runnels.

Survivors include one brother, Lawrence Runnels of Philadelphia, MS, two sisters, Betty Sue Hall of Taylorsville , MS and Dorothy Trinkner of D’Lo, MS; his special nieces and nephews, Donna and Angie, Ricky and Lee, AL, Larry and Missy, Jake and Megan, other nieces and nephews and many cousins. Even though he had no children or grandchildren of his own he considered and treated the following as his grandchildren. Sierra Lerch, Brayson Lerch, Desirae Craft, Joshua Sullivan and Destiny Busby. He also survived by his special friend and companion, Wanda Busby.

Pallbearers are Joe Lerch, Ricky Runnels, Jake Runnels and Wayne Busby. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brayson Lerch
