Twelve years ago, the mother of all hurricanes (in my opinion) hit the Gulf Coast. This life-changing event is forever burned in my mind.
I imagine each one of us can answer the above question. Some events in your life are crystal clear even as the years roll by.
As I watched from the window of my home, I saw trees, huge oak trees, tumble over as if they were only a stick. I saw roofs ripped off houses. I saw no power for days and weeks for many. But, through it all, our city, under the direction of Nevis Rankin, kept our water wells pumping and we never lost water. I saw our Family Life Center at FBC turned into a shelter for hundreds fleeing the coastal threat. I saw our city come together as one to handle the wrath of Katrina.
Share with me where you were when Katrina hit (sue@mageenews.com).
I am praying for Houston. My heart breaks as I see the pictures of the displaced people. My heart hurts as I think of what lies ahead for these Texas towns. Please, if you would like your Texas family included on a prayer list, just email me (Sue@mageenews.com). We will pray for your family specifically.
Our power to survive comes from God above. Pray for the people who do not know His strength.
Blessings to each of you on this “where were you day.”
