This post is for old people! Sixty years ago today (November 22, 1963) President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. I was 13 years old sitting in study hall at Magee Junior High. I can still “hear” John Carter hollering about the President’s death. For years, I have been fascinated with the assassination of Kennedy. The picture of Jackie Kennedy wearing a pink blood stained 2 piece suit is a forever memory.
The fascination with the Kennedys is still prevalent today.
Where were you when Kennedy was killed?
I am interested at what point in your life you learned of his death.
As a 13 year old, my mind was not on politics are even who was the President. But, the USA changed after Kennedy’s death. Many saw him as the leader of change…in the South, most people did not agree with his politics. Kennedy created almost a new society.

I was in Ms. Theda Berry’s sixth grade class, when Terrell Stubbs came in to tell us that President Kennedy had been assassinated. (I also remember that some of my classmates cheered the news).

It was near the end of lunch break, eighth grade, the weather was nice, and a bunch of us were “messing around” on the baseball field next to the school, when the principal came out yelling and ringing an old timey bell like early teachers rang on TV and in the movies. When we got to the school, she announced that the president had been shot, and sent us all to our respective classrooms. At that point we didn’t know he was dead. We had TVs in every classroom, and the principal told the teachers to forget about instruction and turn on the TVs and let us watch, because this was historic. On a related note, which only points out my age, when I first glimpsed the photo you posted, I immediately thought, “Gosh, the president is riding in a really old looking car!”
