This week the auditor’s office released a report comparing how Mississippi spends education money to the other states in the South. In short, we spend a big part of our education budget outside the classroom compared to those states.
We need to be dedicating a bigger part of our education budget to the classroom and teacher salaries.
And speaking of saving money, I co-authored an opinion piece with Laura Jackson, the Director of the state’s Department of Finance and Administration, on the need to consolidate backroom functions of state government.
