The City of Magee has dealt with complaints on the condition of the SASE apartments on Raleigh Road for several years.
Mr. Sampson Jackson, manager, appeared before the Board of Aldermen for a hearing on the condition of the apartments and the grounds.
Following a some time heated discussion, the Board voted to allow Mr. Jackson 30 days to remedy the situation.
The complex has been sited numerous times for safety violations. Two of the apartments were visited by City officials. (Penny Aguirre, Charlie Valadie, Shane Steele, and David Craft).
Fire Chief David Craft explained the poor unsafe conditions at the complex.
Aldermen Patrick Brown, who is the Aldermen for the Ward where the apartments are located, questioned Mr. Jackson several times on the promises he has made in the past. “We have dealt with this for over
3 years,” explained Aldermen Brown.

Sounds like he is a “SLUM LORD” because if it has been going on for three years or longer and nothing has been done, then HE don’t care, period. HOw is he still in business? I hope no one in their “Right mind”, lives there. If they do, they need to file a cause of action against the owner and city counsel/board of alderman (whoever), is in charge of enforcing building codes. Slum Lords who are only interested in taking tenants money are disgusting to say the least and should be run out of business and run out of town, period. People in local government or state who are suppose to represent the people (Including tenants), who pay their salaries in the form of “Taxes”, show be sued as well and removed from their office, and run out of town, period and never be allowed to hold ‘Public office” again, period.
I was just wondering why not build affordable housing for the residents. Get habitat to help with the housing or why not reach out to Section 8 to help with first time buyers assistance. A lot of the families works and are paying the high cost of living. Why not make it affordable for the residents to buy homes.
