Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS will be hosting their next adoption and foster care class on Wednesday, March 16th at 6:00pm in the fellowship hall and Jodi Jackson Tucker will be the keynote speaker.

Tucker is a recent graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and is the president of Pharaoh’s Daughters. Jodi is an international speaker and author of two books: ‘Fasten Your Sweet Belt’ and ‘Second Mother’ which is a bible study experience for adoptive and foster moms but most importantly, Jodi is a wife and mother of 9 children through marriage, adoption, and foster care.

Jodi lived an ordinary life until God brought her face to face with the global orphan crisis many years ago and now, Jodi devotes herself to advocating for adoptive and foster families and the rescue of orphans around the world.

For the past twelve years, Jodi was the International Director of Orphan Sunday, www.orphansunday.org, for Christian Alliance for Orphans [CAFO]. Orphan Sunday began in a small church in Zambia Africa in 2002, and now is observed in thousands of churches in over 90 nations. There is also a sister expression for foster children called “Stand Sunday”. Orphan Sunday and Stand Sunday connect CAFO member churches in the U.S. with thousands more worldwide.

Chris Gray, of Zacchaeus Tree Adoption Ministry, states that Orphan Sunday is recognized and observed each November and that many churches in MS participate each year. In 2018, over 232 churches throughout MS in all 82 counties prayed for orphans and foster children during the Orphan Sunday weekend.

Foster families that attend this class with Jodi Jackson Tucker will receive a one-hour continuing education credit certificate. Gray states, “Everyone is welcome to come listen to Jodi speak to our class and that this is a free event at Crossgates.” Having the opportunity to hear Jodi in an intimate setting will be a chance for both adoptive and foster families to become better equipped and encouraged as they navigate to better understand the needs of orphans, adopted children, and children in foster care.

Jerri Strickland from New Beginnings Adoption Agency out of Tupelo MS and John Noblin from Lifeline Children Services in Birmingham AL will both be on hand to answer questions for families interested in starting the adoption process.

There is no cost to attend the Jodi Jackson Tucker speaking engagement and RSVP is not required to attend the class. Children are welcome to attend the class with their parents; however, childcare will not be available this week.

Crossgates Baptist Church offers adoption and foster care classes on the first and third Wednesday’s of each month in room 207 from 6:00-7:00pm. Crossgates Baptist Church is located at 8 Crosswoods Road, Brandon MS 39042. For more information about this event, please contact Zacchaeus Tree Adoption Ministry on Facebook or Ben Boyd at Crossgates Baptist Church.
