There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
– Proverbs 6:16-19
God wants us to be holy as He is holy, and therefore, He wants us to be entirely ethical, as He Himself is.
Therefore, we are to love what God loves and detest what He detests.
This proverb reminds us of what we should be detesting–those who think they are better than others, lying, killing the innocent, plotting evil, doing wrong, and sowing discord in others (stirring the pot!).
We should each examine our own value system and think about the value system that we are instilling in our children. Look for ways to be more intentional to live as God wants us to live and be a better example for our children and those we reach out to each day!
