We are Magee. From our children, to our students, to our parents, to our teachers and administrators, and to our community, we are Magee through and through. It shines through in big and small ways. It shines through in our Magee High School baseball boy’s determination to never give up. And, it shines through in our fans supporting our boys and all of our students.
As our 2019 South State baseball boys traveled to Trustmark Park to play for the 3A State Championship, our school and community rallied together to provide fan buses for our students to be able to travel to Trustmark Park to support our baseball boys. We would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to Priority One Bank for starting our donation rally and to Noah Sanford, Scotty Buffington, Family Vision Clinic, and Mag Logan for continuing the support. Finally, a SPECIAL THANK YOU for the generous donation from Peoples Bank.
Watching our boys dig deep and fight for their South State Championship in a thrilling 14 inning game made me so proud to know and have taught so many of our players. The few players I have not taught I have grown to know through meeting them in the hallways and working with them throughout the past two years. This group of boys know what determination is and how to dig deep to fight for want they want. Their coaches know how to inspire them to do their best and to never give up.
Today’s pitcher facing the North Pontotoc Vikings is Brennon McNair. After speaking with Brennon, he stated, “Today, it is all about competing. Many believe all odds are against us. They have tried their best to get us out of our game. Our opponent will try to beat us, but we are Trojans, we are Magee, and we are not going down without a fight. Our enemy on the field has added nothing but fuel to our fire, and they will pay. Today, with my fellow baseball Trojans, we will continue to play our game. I will toe the rubber. I will not fear any batter. I will not give up. I will trust in my defense and will throw strikes. There is no reason why we can’t win this whole thing. We have fought all year, and I love each and every one of these boys. Our seniors should have the opportunity to experience winning a state championship. Coach Eubanks should have the experience of winning a state championship. Coach Hancock, Coach Ward, Brian, and all the staff of Magee baseball should experience this greatness, as well. Magee deserves to shine, and we will so help me God.”
Despite yesterday’s loss, our boys will face North Pontotoc with a renewed energy to show them who Magee truly is. As our own Brennan McNair sums it up…We are Magee! Please show your support by wearing white and coming to Trustmark Park for the game at 4:00 pm.
