By James Davis

The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Matthew 26:41: “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” The Christian realizes that we have a dual nature composed of the spiritual and the carnal. Both are constantly at war, as the BIBLE tells us. In this daily struggle, we are admonished to remain spiritually attuned to God by reading His Word and keeping a very active prayer life. We know we’ll be victorious if we stick close to God and keep our focus on Him. Let’s always remember Peter and how he was able to walk on water while keeping his eyes on Jesus, but once he took his gaze away, he began to sink. It’s a wonderful lesson for us. Amen!

Okay, we have our charge for the day and that is to be diligent in sharing the love, joy, and kindness with all those with whom we come in contact and to do it with a smile and a grateful heart. As the old gospel song puts it, “Let your life so be that all the world may see the joy of serving Jesus with a smile, a bright, shining smile.”
