Linda Curlee was appointed by the school board to fill a vacancy created when no one completed paper work to seek the position.  In error, Mrs. Curlee failed to register for the past election; and therefore, the position had to be filled by board appointment.

Four people submitted their name for consideration for the vacancy:  Paul Arnold, Linda Curlee, Marvin Lee, and Lisa Reed.

MageeNews.com Issues Warning About Suspicious Emails

June 19, 2026

Following the interviews, the board was at a deadlock on a decision forcing board president, Stacey Herrin, to cast the deciding vote.  Mrs. Herrin cast her vote for Linda Curlee who is now back on the board.  Stacey gave her reasons for choosing Mrs. Curlee.  Mrs. Curlee did defeat Marvin Lee in an earlier election and Mrs. Curlee is already certified (taken the required course) …and has the required CE hours which saves tax payers money according to Mrs. Herrin.

I’m just saying, there are a lot of unhappy people.  People have voiced their opinions to me concerning the fact Mrs. Curlee did not even take time or think it important enough to follow election proceedings.

But, the board has ruled.  Let this be a lesson to all of us…if you are passionate about something …do your homework…and follow the rules.

Check out the video on the home page of MageeNews.com (also posted under Schools).  The video is lengthy, but you, the public, can see first-hand the interviews…the decision making…and the dedication these board members have to their job and the children of Simpson County.

Linda Curlee has worked tirelessly for the children of our county.  Let’s move forward for our children and not spend our time looking at what “could have been or would have been.”

The decision is made.  Linda Curlee will do an excellent job…give her credit where credit is due.
