Wanda Jean Layton, 81, gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 6, 1938, to her parents, the late Vernon Warren Davis and Tressie Carolyn (Bryant) Ingram.

Mrs. Layton was the first female to attend seminary in the 1970’s for Minister of Music. She was a member of Old Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Layton, Sr.; daughter, Wanda Layton Watts and sister, Patricia Kaehler.

She is survived by her sons, Bryan P. Layton, John P. Layton, Jr.; daughters, Shelly Layton Schutzman, Leibee J. Hayman (Sammy); sisters, Betty Dwornik, Martha Enfinger; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee from 2:30 pm until 3:15 pm. A graveside service will follow at Old Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Mendenhall, MS at 4:00 pm.

Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home.
