Walter McCallum Jr., 81, passed away on June 20, 2024 at his home outside of Magee.
 A lifelong resident of Simpson County, Walter was a graduate of Magee High School, where he would later come back to teach and serve on the board of education. He continued his education at Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Mississippi State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education. In addition to his career in education, Walter was also always a farmer and had a passion for agriculture and collecting and working on vintage farm equipment. His work career also included a stint as division manager at Mississippi Auto Auction and he owned and operated a windshield repair business. Walter served as a deacon and Elder at Magee Presbyterian Church and elder emeritus at Hopewell Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pauline, his brother Paul and son Dwayne.
 He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Ann Austin McCallum, to whom he was married for 61 years, their children, Walter III (Laura), Hugh (Angela), John, and Jean Ann Compton (Cameron); grandchildren Dustin McCallum (Hannah), Emily Ferreira (Adrian), Ryne McCallum, Jack McCallum, Dylan McCallum, Layla McCallum, Mianna Compton and Mina Compton; great-grandchildren Oliver McCallum and Ayden McCallum and one sister, Elizabeth Shivers (John).
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 22, at Tutor Funeral Home with interment following in Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Bro. Joe Gardner will officiate the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
