Following our trip with family to Disney World, Chuck and I decided to “head on down” to Jensen Beach, Fl to see long time friend Jimbo McAlpin.

It has been years since I have seen Jimbo!  We grew up together and graduated from Magee High School in 1968.

Jimbo was raised at the Sanatorium where his father and mother, Jake and

One Property at a Time: Citizens Can Help Shape Magee’s Future

McAlpin ran an appliance store, food store, and gas station.

Jimbo has lived an interesting life, in my opinion.  He is a certified scuba driver instructor.   (And still teaches!). Jimbo lived in the Florida Keyes for many years but migrated back to the Jensen Beach area to be near his twin sons, James and Chris.  He has one darling granddaughter, Danica McAlpin!

Jimbo retired from the county after serving in a management position for many years.

Jimbo never comes home!  We miss him in Magee, MS and his Sanatorium friends miss him!

Chuck and Jimbo lived next door to one another and got in a multitude of mischief together!  I’m sure they can’t tell half the tales of their childhood.  When you had Jimbo, Chuck, and Sammy Scoggins together—you had better watch out!

Jimbo was always so “cool” and so much fun!  He laughed a lot and certainly entertained everyone!

I promised Jimbo if he would come and visit, Chuck would get up a poker game and I would throw a big party for anyone who wanted to come and see Jimbo!  (Hopefully our offers will convince him to come home!)

Although Magee and the Sanatorium are no longer his home, Jimbo assured me he misses everyone and Simpson County was the greatest place to grow up!

Jimbo doesn’t do Facebook, but he does read MageeNews.com.  Leave comments on this post for Jimbo to read!  (I have  screen shot FB comments and forward to him through text.)

I imagine Jimbo never hears himself called “Jimbo” only Jim.  Our names from childhood always surface in our later years!

Take time to visit your friends!

We love and miss you, Jimbo!

Hey Cousin. It’s Jane from Texas. Glad you are alive and well. JYL and I are still around and and would love to hear from you. Still have such great memories of our visits to Miss. with family.
