Monday afternoon, October 15th 2018, Sheriff Donald O’Cain fell ill during the normal work day. AMR was dispatched, and Sheriff Donald O’Cain was transported to a Jackson area hospital between 4:30 and 4:45 PM. Simpson County deputies along with Rankin and Hinds counties assisted with the escort of the ambulance within their jurisdictions. Sheriff O’Cain was alert and talking at the time.

Sheriff O’Cain is recovering in the hospital. His condition is improving at this time. The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office and the O’Cain family sincerely appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers. During the next several days as the sheriff continues his progress, we ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy and we hope for a speedy recovery.
