The Board of Aldermen approved a million dollar paving project for our city.  Bids on the project will  open September 1st. According to Mayor Berry, when the bids “come in” the projects will begin. (The company that wins the bid has 60 days to begin the paving project.)

Each of the five aldermen are allotted approximately $200,000 each.  The aldermen have been studying the streets for several months as well as street condition studies.

The chosen streets have been given to the City Engineer Forest Dungan who is working with the aldermen to stretch their dollars.

Mayor Berry also shared that he thinks he has landed a strip mall!

Bids for the new play ground will also be taken in September.

Sue note:  I had no idea how little a million dollars would cover!  I expected every street in the city to get paved…but no!  The Mayor and Board are working on a three year plan that will generate

another million for paving in the next few years.

For more information on the paving project and other city happenings check out the video.
