Brandon, MS – Congressman Michael Guest (R-Miss) released the following update on his work both in Mississippi and in Washington, D.C.:

Update on Hurricanes

Hurricane Helene caused unprecedented devastation for our fellow Americans, and our nation is preparing for more potential destruction by Hurricane Milton. I am grateful to the National Weather Service (NWS) facility in Flowood for meeting with my staff and me this week. While at the NWS, we received a briefing on Hurricane Milton and the possible impact across the region. In this especially difficult hurricane season for our country, we are appreciative of the great work performed at the NWS.

Standing with Israel

October 7 marked one year since Israel was brutally attacked by Hamas. Since that fateful day, Israel has stood firm. America must continue supporting our great ally Israel as it fights to protect its homeland. I will always stand with Israel. To that end, I was proud to be an original cosponsor of a resolution in the House of Representatives “reaffirming United States support of the State of Israel one year after the October 7, 2023, attacks.” Last week, Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, launched an unprecedented attack against Israel—our closest ally in the Middle East.  Now, more than ever, the United States must stand with Israel as it fights Hamas and Hezbollah, known terrorist groups, and seeks to defend itself against Iran.  This administration must stop its policy of appeasement of the Iranian regime and once and for all let the world know that the United States will support Israel and its right to exist in the homeland promised to its ancestors in the Old Testament.

Updates on Passports

Did you know that you can now renew your passport online? Check out this resource next time you need to renew your passport. If there is anything that my team can do to help with your passport processing, please call my Brandon office at (769) 241-6120.

Join the Congressional App Challenge

Middle and high school students are invited to participate in the 2024 Congressional App Challenge. I strongly encourage students of all skill levels to participate, enabling them to learn how to create their own apps. The winner from the Third Congressional District, chosen by expert judges, will be eligible for a display in the U.S. Capitol, honoring the winners from across the country. Students entering the competition must submit their app at https://www.congressionalappchallenge.us/ during the Competition Submission Period through October 24, 2024. For more information, please call my D.C. office at 202-225-5031.
