Health Science students at Simpson County Technical Center participated in an Age Sensitivity Training presented by, Kathy Van Cleave, Director of Education & Outreach of the Mind Center at UMMC. Students experienced sensory changes associated with aging through simulation activities. They also learned how to care for older adults while developing empathy and understanding. In addition, they learned about offering support to individuals and families affected by autism and dementia involving providing access to supportive services and resources, such as counseling, respite care, and adaptive technology.  Students came away with a greater understanding of the entire lifespan through these measurable and memorable simulation experiences.  Brenda White is the Instructor for Health Science.
