WESSON – Co-Lin sophomores William Clark, Jr. of Taylorsville and Kortne Nelson of Brookhaven have each been chosen to receive a $4,000 Mu Alpha Theta scholarship. The national Mu Alpha Theta organization awards three scholarships to two-year college students from across the nation, and this year two recipients were Co-Lin students.

“I am extremely proud of Kortne and William. Their dedication to mathematics and outstanding academic achievement deserves this prestigious Mu Alpha Theta Scholarship,” said Mathematics/Computer Science Chairperson and Mu Alpha Theta advisor Eddie Britt. “Receiving this scholarship not only recognizes their hard work but also serves as a testament to Mu Alpha Theta’s commitment to supporting students’ academic endeavors.”

Mu Alpha Theta is the mathematics honor society for high school and two-year college students. The organization of mathematics clubs serves over 100,000 student members in more than 2,420 schools in the United States and 23 foreign countries. Mu Alpha Theta is dedicated to inspiring an interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics.
